Can We Get Back to Having Fun Now?
[Note: Back to non-heavy fun stuff on this page. Sweet!]
If for no reason other than to not end this one on a total personal bummer, I guess I should talk about the state of my hobbies. Let’s start with Japanese music because it won’t take too long, sadly. Honestly, 2019 has been a bit of a weak year for the Japanese idol scene. There have been some fun things here and there, but compared to years past, it’s kinda dull. Non-idol pop music is in even worse shape. I’ve heard almost nothing I’m into. I would blame the rise of K-Pop in my playlist, but I’ve heard several other people say the same thing so maybe it’s not my bias. Honestly the best thing I’ve heard so far this year is the new Hello! Project group of all things, BEYOOOOONDS. They’re a lot of fun. Cute girls and great energetic music so far.
K-Pop on the other hand has been pretty awesome this year. I’ve seen a few comments about how it’s not as good and EDM-ridden. I can agree with the latter, but I’ve honestly had a ton of fun with it this year. I am totally on the ITZY bandwagon, and have found their first two releases to be super fun with lots of replay value. There’s also been other great new groups like Rocket Punch, EVERGLOW, and Tomorrow X Together alongside long-time favorites like TWICE and BLACKPINK continuing to be super awesome. But yeah, in short, it’s been a great year for K-Pop.
I think it might be worth it to do a catchup post on my two music genre’s of choice, dive into some particulars. Yeah. I think I like the sound of that.
Music has been a heavy focus for me this year. Gaming has honestly fallen off some. The only time I play is when friends are online. I get these urges to play sometimes but it usually ends up with me just scrolling through my game store lists for 30 minutes then giving up. Weird, huh? I haven’t touched any anime this year except for Attack on Titan, whose second part of the third season was easily the best the series has ever been. I really should work on that since I pay for Crunchyroll, but they probably love customers like me.
Other than that, it’s just been dealing with work and the IRL’s. Work was challenging this summer, but all my hard work is paying off now, and things are getting back to normal. Gotta love that. The rest of my “real life” is settling too. It’s always nice when that happens. I love my peace and quiet.
Anyways, yeah, this is my post to say that my blog isn’t dead. I want to continue, even if just occasionally. I better, because it was some effort to get WordPress updated after months of neglect, as well as *finally* figuring out how to fix my theme colors. No more ugly gold anywhere! I hope you will continue to pop in and see what I’m up to. I’ll still promote a little on Twitter here and there so keep an eye out if you follow me there. Catch you next time.
